Autumn Golfing Season
CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2017
Apologies this is a bit late this month, November seems to have crept up rather swiftly.
It has been a very busy month for the club socially with a number of functions booked which all helps in the running of the bar. A huge thank you to Trisha, Emma, Gillian, Sophie & Michael for all their hard work at these events.
Winter golf is now upon us and Sid and Wallace have started their winter maintenance programme. Please bear with us while the greens are hollow tined. This necessary work takes a while to settle but we all reap the benefits in the long run. The guys are doing a great job in keeping us on the course and we are playing on days other local clubs are closed. However, due to the weather, the course is very wet underfoot so please be careful out there.
Game 3 still running and the Joker Jackpot has now reached £555. The remaining cards are diminishing so the chances of picking the Joker are getting higher every week. This is an excellent fundraiser for the club and well worth a £1 for a go.
Congratulations to our latest £100 winner Mr F Hay. Still time to get in on the action and purchase a number for the remaining draws. Cost is now £8 to enter for the remaining months.
Stocks are low – donations are urgently required. Please pass to a member of the social committee or leave behind the bar.
Mick’s latest quiz went down a storm with its spooky Halloween theme, couple that with an excellent supper from McCaskies @ The Seaview and once again we had a sellout evening. Well done to Tommy and his organising committee of Elspeth, Mick & Grace.
We have reinstated the Wednesday night Games Nights and these are running every two weeks with the next one this Wednesday the 8th November. The bar is open from 7-10pm and we have a number of games – Table Tennis, Carpet Bowls, Darts, Putting and Quoits. Why not pop along and join in the fun!
Christmas Shopping Night – Friday 17th Nov.
Get a head start with your Christmas shopping, tickets are priced at £3 and include a glass of wine and shortbread. There are a variety of stalls coming along and its sure to be a festive evening.
Saturday the 25th November – St Andrews Night
Tickets are now on sale, behind the bar for this musical evening and again this is sure to be very popular so please support the club and buy your tickets early.
Please note the rescheduled date is now the 7th December 2017, in the clubhouse at 7.30pm.
Mixed Christmas Party
Sunday the 17th December. The sheet is now up in the lobby please add your name and choice of food asap.
Preferred lies are in use.
Care on the Course Your Personal Safety
Please take great care when out on the course at this time of the year. The ground conditions as you will be aware are very wet and slippery and all the wooden bridges and steps around the tee’s are especially slippery, as well as many of the areas of sloping grass surrounding the greens and tee’s and also on a number of the sloping fairways. It is always the clubs intention to keep the course open and golf available whenever we can, but if conditions do deteriorate underfoot to a point where personal safety becomes an obvious concern then the course may have to be closed until the conditions improve.
I Look forward to seeing you all at the club.
