CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER JUNE 2017
With summer just around the corner (let’s hope we’ve not had it already) now is the time to get out on the course and enjoy the longer evenings.
Ayrshire Fourball Championship
Graham Anderson & Graham Todd are doing well in this competition with two home wins under their belts against Troon Portland and Prestwick St Nicholas, the guys are now into round four of this competition. Well done from all at the club.
This team competition is now underway in Ayrshire and our 4-man team of Jim Anderson, Johnny Anderson, Malky Doull and Donny Campbell started well with an away win. Their next match is at home against Ayr so best of luck boys.
Ayrshire Champion of Champions
Unfortunately Johnny Anderson was beaten away at Royal Troon. Commiserations Johnny from all of us.
Well done to all who took part in blustery conditions. Hugh held on to an early lead and was not matched throughout the day.

Scratch – John R Anderson
Nearest the pin – Jimmy MacKellar
Captains Prize Day
A good turn out on the day for this Bogey Competition. John Love was 3 up on the course for a win with a BIH.
1st – John Love, 2nd – Gus MacFarlane , 3rd – Greg Pollock.
Nearest the pin – Innes Anderson
After only a few weeks, game two has just been won on card number 6 – £140 to Jim Freeman. Game Three starts again now with the Joker jackpot back to £50. This is an excellent fundraiser for the club and well worth a £1 for a go.
Additional Revenue Opportunities
We are looking for suggestions from the membership as to further ways we can raise money and increase the earning potential of the club. Revenue from the wind turbine and any future benefit from the land will take time to come to fruition. In the meantime should you have any thoughts from “outside the box” please speak up to a member of the committee in person or drop an email to email@example.com. We are keen for the wider membership to get involved and all suggestions will be considered.
9 Hole Medals
These are now underway and we have had two in May. The intention is to hold two of these medals per month. They are a great way for an even more sociable game as they are open to all categories playing together – men, women and juniors.
29 members took part in today’s competition and a further 5 used this form for a card for handicap. Well done to Alistair Johnston, Wednesday 31st May winner with a whopping 23 points for “The Flat Nine” course.
The next 9 hole medal is on Sunday the 11th of June and will be “The Front Nine“ course.

Social Evening – Acoustic Set with the Two Daves from The Urban Folkers.
Enjoyed by all who attended. The boys played a real mix and treated their audience to a great evening of music and chat. Thanks to Donny and Sandra for the supper.
Prize Stocks are now low – and donations are urgently required. If you can help with a prize please pass to a member of the social committee or leave behind the bar, thank you.
There is still time to enter this and purchase a number for 2017. To enter and have the chance to win £100 per month, and £200 in December please complete the entry forms, available in the clubhouse. Next draw is the 24th June 2017. This is an easy way to support the club and perhaps win back something for yourself. Numbers now cost £18 for the remaining nine draws of this year. The winner of the £100 for May is Bill Hope.
The recent good weather has produced some great scoring with Alyson Hutton cutting her handicap by 4.5 strokes in less than a week. Jim Anderson had a superb gross 65 last Saturday and still was beaten in the medal.
Great to see these handicaps tumbling – long may it continue.
Hope to see you on the course soon.
