CAPTAIN’S NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2017
August already and the season is rushing by. Unfortunately July proved to be a bit of a washout so here’s hoping August is an improvement.
Ayrshire Fourball Championship
Graham Anderson & Graham Todd recently played the pair from Troon Wellbeck. Unfortunately the guys were narrowly beaten by one hole. Well done Graham & Graham for doing so well in the competition.
The greens of West Kilbride proved just too slick for our 4 man team and their good run ended there. Well done and Hard lines to all.
Game Three still running and the Joker jackpot is sitting at a very nice and attractive £190. This is proving an excellent fundraiser for the club and well worth a £1 for a go so please support the club and buy a ticket or two, only a £1 each, so a pretty good return if you win, details in the clubhouse bar area. Good luck.
Congratulations to our latest £100 winner Mrs Sandra Campbell. Still time to get in on the action and purchase a number for the remaining draws. Cost is now £14 to enter for the remaining months.
9 Hole Medals
They are a great way for an even more sociable game as they are open to all categories of golfers playing together – men, women and juniors and are an ideal way to either gain your handicap or retain it. The next 9 hole medal is on Sunday the 13th of August and will be “The Flat Nine“ course. The other 9 hole medal for August will run on Wednesday the 23rd of August and will be over the “First Nine” course.
Stocks are are now low – donations are once again rather urgently required, If you can help please pass to a member of the social committee or leave behind the bar.

New Coffee Lounge
This room is now complete and is a welcome addition to the club’s facilities. We are hoping to have a trial of a coffee vending machine later this month – offering cappuchino, latte, hot chocolate etc. Once installed, we will monitor its popularity to gauge whether this will be something which we can offer on a more permanent basis.
Silent Auction & Afternoon Tea
The Ladies section will once again be running their popular silent auction on behalf of club funds. This will be held on Saturday the 2nd of September and will be set up in time for the gents to have a look at the items following their morning round. The Afternoon Tea will be available from 3pm and is open to all. Tickets will be available behind the bar by the end of the week. Worth having a clear out and donating the odd item to the club. All sorts accepted – old golf gear, new or nearly new clothing, pictures, bags, jewellery, books etc. Please speak to Lady Captains – Marel and Alison for more details.
The Seniors open is on Thursday the 7th of September followed shortly after by the Ladies Open on Sunday the 10th of September. Please invite your friends and get your entries in asap. Entry forms available on the website – including an online entry option.
This Saturday afternoon is the annual competition run from the Eglinton Bar. The first tee will be closed from 1pm until 2.45pm for a Shotgun start at 2.30pm. Would members please be aware of this and plan their morning accordingly.
