Skelmorlie Golf Club is proud to be one of the founder members of the Associated Clubs of Clyde. The Association is run by a small committee of ‘Green Jackets’ who are elected from the member Clubs. The Association run two competitions each year, a scratch competition in June, The Firth of Clyde Trophy and in August, a handicap competition, The wee Trophy. Both competitions are run along similar lines where each club enters five players with the aggregate of the three best scores counting. There are also some individual score prizes for both competitions.
DID YOU KNOW
As well as organising the two competitions, the Association has set up a reciprocal agreement between the clubs that allows members to play each others courses for a reduced fee. This fee is currently £7.50 per round (March 2009). Note Largs Golf Club do not participate in the scheme and Routenburn cannot due to being public owned.

The Firth Of Clyde Trophy
The Firth of Clyde Trophy is a scratch team competition, played annually between the member clubs of the Firth of Clyde. The first competition was played for in 1899 by the seven founder clubs; Blairmore & Strone, Cowal, Gourock, Innellan, Kilcreggan, Rothesay & Skelmorlie and it is believed to be the oldest interclub golf competition in the world. Since its conception, Millport, Largs Kelburn, Kyles of Bute, Largs Routenburn & Port Bannatyne have joined the association. Kilcreggan Golf Club no longer exists. The Venue for each year is done by rotation with the competition returning to each club roughly every 10 years.
